6 Weeks

Well this has been a long week, after mandatory overtime and being anxious/nervous/excited about our ultrasound Thursday, and I’m glad to say that it is finally the weekend and we are very excited about it.

As you know, the ultrasound on Thursday was super awesome. Although technically nothing “exciting” happened, we found out that all the components of a healthy pregnancy are there, and this week the heart should start beating. We go back on June 28 for our next ultrasound and to hear the heartbeat and get the A-OK to head back to our regular OBGYN for the rest of the pregnancy. It will be nice to not have that $200 copay to see the fertility doctor each time, but I think we will kind of miss him! His office staff is amazing and he’s given us so much and I am so grateful that we made the choice to see him. It has been worth every penny we’ve spent.

There isn’t much to report this week. J is still having trouble with certain foods and is keeping away from carbs/sweets as much as healthily possible. She’s loving salad, fruit, and black olives; all good stuff except we have to keep an eye on the sodium she’s intaking from the olives! She’s been having some trouble breathing, but I think that is more allergies than anything baby-related at this point. She’s been feeling swollen and we had to buy her some new comfy work pants, but her moods have gotten better in general. Plus, her mom told her to be nice to me, maybe that had something to do with it (thanks Nana!) 🙂

Speaking of Nana, we got a nice surprise from her the other day. After our ultrasound, we were checking out our baby registry (which we have had since this whole process began, just cause we’re crazy like that!), and the crib we picked was out of stock. We checked the other colors Target had with no luck. We checked Wal-Mart, Sam’s, Babies-R-Us, and everywhere else we could think of and still no one has this crib. Finally we Googled it (because that’s how I roll) and found it at Amazon. They were out of every color but one, and at that point they had ONE left in stock. That’s right….ONE!! So Nana bought it for us and it is on its way. Of course, it won’t be put together until after the baby is here, since we may (hopefully) be moving after our lease is up at the end of March. We may move into a bigger rental, or if we can get a house by then, that would be the greatest because we are so ready to have our own space! But that’s another story for another time. 🙂

So I guess that is all for this post. Our little sweet pea is in there, growing up a storm! I can’t wait for the next ultrasound. This is all happening so fast, but we still can’t get away from that two week wait, even now that we are pregnant. 🙂

6 Weeks

Your baby is growing like crazy and is now about 1/4 of an inch long, roughly the size of a sweet pea! Baby is starting to sprout eyes, ears, nose, cheeks and chin and the heart is also beating now (almost twice as fast as yours!) and blood is starting to circulate. Those little hands and feet are webbed like paddles and might even wiggle by week’s end.

Here’s what our little sweet pea looks like this week!
