22 Weeks & Kicking It

Twenty-two down, eighteen to go! I can’t believe that we are already at 22 weeks here. Each day we creep closer and closer to meeting our son and I just get excited all over again when I think about it.

Luckily here in the Sunshine State, the hell blazes of summer seem to be coming to an end. Warning: it is probably just a fakeout! However, it will be nice for it not to be so hot outside that you can’t stand yourself. J’s air conditioning went out in her car this week so we are taking it into the shop this morning to get it fixed. Having no air conditioning, in Florida, is never a good thing. Especially when pregnant! ๐Ÿ˜‰

We are also going clothes shopping this weekend, this time for both of us for a change. J needs some more maternity shirts now that she is really popping out with her baby bump now, and definitely needs some jeans for the upcoming “cool” months. Not to mention, my workplace finally decided to go back to wearing business casual instead of jeans starting October 15th, so I need a new wardrobe stat since none of my old business casual clothes fit anymore!

Jaxson is doing well, kicking a little more frequently and harder as each day goes by. J says that she can really feel him moving around in there now, and he tends to elbow her in the most inconvenient places. Last night, she was laying on the bed and had me come put my hand on her stomach, and I finally got to feel him kick!! It was just a tiny little nudge, and it was just one kick, but it was so amazing. I have been waiting for this day and now it finally arrived. YAY! I can’t wait to feel him again. ๐Ÿ™‚

Jax is just over a pound this week and measures about a foot long, about the size of a spaghetti squash! There is fine hair, called lanugo, covering his body now to help keep him warm and he is actually starting to look like a miniature newborn complete with lips, eyelids, and eyebrows that are becoming more distinct. His skin is still wrinkly, and the fat is still forming under his skin to fill it out some. The pancreas is also developing this week and the eyes are formed, although the iris (colored part of the eye) is still lacking its coloring.

Jaxson is already establishing sleeping patterns!
