17 Days!

Only 17 days left until our due date and we are both so impatient and ready for Jax to be here! We had our weekly OB appointment this afternoon and J’s strep B test was negative, so no antibiotics needed during delivery! Also, no cervical check this week since she is not having any contractions, although she has had a couple of Braxton Hicks contractions earlier in the month. And possibly the best news of all, our regular OB Dr. Connors returns next week! YAY! We are so happy we made it back to her, although we will miss Dr. Johnson too.

We keep getting gifts left at our door from our registry, which is awesome. We didn’t think we would be getting anything else, so it has been a very pleasant surprise! We got a high chair cover, play yard and sheets, and our second car seat. We now have literally everything we NEED for Jax’s arrival, and my parents keep buying more things as time goes on. We ran into my mom and sister at Target and every time we would go “Aww this is so cute!” it seemed to find its way into my mom’s basket. My parents went to IKEA this past Saturday and bought some wooden trucks and a cute wooden train set like they had for my brother when he was little. And speaking of, my dad had just gone in the attic and actually pulled out my brother’s toy trains and Matchbox cars. I remember playing with them when I was little too, so it was fun to go down memory lane, and look forward to playing with them again soon with my son. 🙂

We have an iPod speaker in Jax’s room and I had an old iPod that I don’t use anymore that we have been planning to put kid-friendly tunes on, so J and I worked on that some this week. Let me tell you, these aren’t your old school lullabies a la Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. We found a whole bunch of popular songs turned into lullabies, such as Bob Marley, Lady Gaga, and Queen. So cool!

We got in some diaper practice this week too when we had to take our cat Bubba to the vet. He pees every single time we try to put him in the carrier, all over the floor and whoever is holding him. So this time we figured we would try putting a diaper on him until he was in the carrier since we had some size 2 diapers handy. Success! Everyone remained dry and it was as lot less messy and stressful than usual (well, for us at least!). He got his steroid shot and he seems to be feeling much better already. 🙂

At least we have some practice under our belts…now we just need the baby here! Its so close, but still feels so far away sometimes…

It’s very weird. You wait- once he’s here the days will fly by in the most insane whirlwind of activity. You’ll not be able to remember a time when he wasn’t here.
