6 Month Check-Up

What a difference a year (or two!) can make in your life. Around this time in August two years ago, we were still trying to conceive at home, our second attempt. This time in August last year, we were pregnant with Jaxson and having our 14 week ultrasound and trying to find out if he was a boy or a girl. This August, I’m celebrating my birthday this weekend with our 6 month old little boy in my arms. It’s just amazing! I can’t believe it has only been 6 months that he has been with us, because it feels like he’s always been a part of us and our family. 🙂

I’m glad to report that his 6 month check-up today went very well! He must have gotten the hint that we were concerned he wasn’t sitting up on his own yet but this week he’s been working on sitting up and is getting better everyday, so Dr. Helft was glad to hear that. He wants us to start weaning Jax off the Prevacid by lowering the dosage little by little every day instead of skipping. He’s doing really well with the solids and Dr. Helft says he sees shadows of teeth in his lower gums, which are also swollen, so teeth are imminent! And Jax can start trying out sippy cups, too. Dr. Helft also noticed a heart murmur, but said that he sees it in about 50% of his patients and not to worry, it was most likely nothing to worry about and would resolve itself as Jax keeps growing. Jax was a champ for his shots and barely made a peep and promptly fell asleep in the car on the ride home. We got his height/weight too and he’s looking great!

I’m also VERY glad to report that he’s been sleeping through the night again, which means these mamas are finally getting some rest, too. Thank goodness! He’s been much more personable and seems to be back to his usual happy self, although he still yells as loud as possible at everything he can. We’re going to look for some rugs this weekend in fact, in hopes of dampening the echo in our new house. And stay tuned for 6 month pictures soon!
